SOFTWARE This Extreme iMac has Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows XP Home on it, already set up using Parallels which opens and closes just like any other program, allowing you to use Windows When you need, then shut it off without requireing you to reboot your computer and thus leave your Mac environment. With Parallels, you can use any windows program to open Mac files, or any Mac program to open Windows files. You can even open Vista or XP windows Side By Side next to Leopards windows on the mac desktop using the new Coherence Mode. I recommend you check out www.parallels.com for more details on how it all works. However, a read me file will be on your Mac and Vista/XP desktop. You can see for yourself what coherence mode is, by looking at the two pictures of the desktop included in this auction. Its the last two pictures. In the second to the last, you see the mac desktop witha planer earth background. You see all teh mac icons I use on my desktop, then you see ONE window in the middle, which is Windows Vista! You will notice inside the Windows window the antivirus is doing an automatic update. Either AVG or AVAST antifvirus is set up already for you, and includes free updates automatically set up. You can grab the bottom right corner of thei window and resize it as big or as small as you want, and the screen resolution will automatically resize itself for you! Meaning if you drag the window really big, then your deskto will refit itself to that size, all of the desktop, the start globe, icons, everything. SOmething else for you to see, the littel buttons on the right side of the vista window. Those are your controls. The bottom row are your control icons for your optical drive which you need to choose to use, and USB devices that you must select to be seen in parallels, and others. Coherence mode is working in the last picture. You can see from top left, Vista's IE 7, then to the right, minesweeper, Windows Media Player, playing a song that came with vista in the music folder, then coing straight down from there, you see Mac's Finder window, then going all the way to the left, a video of a football game being played in Mac's Quicktime window. Q)Does the computer have any scratches or defects? A)NO! These refurbished Computers ship like brand new, with stickers and plastics protecting them just like a brand new one. Refurbish from Apple does NOT mean scratch and Dent or AS IS! Apple doesn't tell us why a computer is resold as refurbished, but it can be either a Hard Drive failed and had to be replaced, or simply opened box and returned. Apple repacks the computers, checks everything twice, and to be honest, the only difference between refurbished and brand new is the outside box! Q)IS there a Warranty with the Computer, How long, Can I get Apple Care? A) Yes there is a FULL one year warranty on the computer, which starts from the date that I purchase the computer, which is usually anywhere from 7 to 18 days from the time you get it. I NEVER sell a computer that has more than 30 days on it without disclosing that in my auction. You can purchase apple care any time until the warranty expires. You are better off getting apple care yourself, because warranty travels with the computer with serial number, but Apple care goes with the person! That would require alot of paperwork to transfer, so your better off getting the apple care yourself! Q)Who do I talk to where there is a problem? A)Your warranty is with Apple, but I am always there for you when you have a problem too. Sometimes a call to apple is better, sometimes a call to me is better, it is really up to you to decide based on your experience and comfort. Q)DO all of the disks come with the software? Do the Boxes come with the computer? A)Every title has an installation Disk Image, and yes, by law, thats required to be included. All disk images are in one place a folder called Back Up Programs on your finder. A blank DVD is included to make a back up of this for yourself as it has personal information, I do not make the back up myself anymore. BOXES are for illustration purposes only, those are the versions of software included, but Boxed retail versions are not included. Software is pre-installed and set up for you. Q)Will I get a Windows Installation Disk or a Windows Restore Disk? A)A Windows Installation disk will only come if you buy the Boot Camp Upgrade option, otherwise you will have three blank DVDs and an instruction sheet on how to make a restore disk for your Windows Computer. 3 DVDs for Vista, 2 For XP. Since your version has personal information, I cannot make this disk for you. It is a simple process, and the diagram makes it painless! Q)Can I boot into windows with Boot Camp? A)No, you will need to purchase the Boot Camp Upgrade option, otherwise Windows will always come set up only in Parallels. Q)How come your shipping to Canada is so expensive? A)First of all, its not, I pay for the insurance to insure the computer for retail value. Second, I MUST use USPS Express for canada, and that is expensive. However you get your computer is less than a week and that means less chance for damage! Q)How much ram do I need for Windows? A)Well in Parallels, you cant give more than Half to your Computer and Half to Windows. It depends on which version. XP works well with 756! Vista works with at least 1.5 to 2. If you plan to use Vista, make sure you have at least 3 GB and 4GB . Q)Are the software titles full versions of just Trials? A)NONE of the titles I have listed are Trials! They are ALL full versions! NOTE: TYPO...This computer uses PC2-6400 ram, not 5300. It could not use 5300, its not fast enough, but Ive done so many of the standard imacs that I forgot to change the specs for the newest one like this one. The new imacs like this use 1066 mhz bus. They are almost twice as fast as the ones that run at 667 mhz bus. Thats quite a boost.
